Make Money With Clickbank
How to Set Up Your Own eBook Business
Ok, so you want to earn money online and join me in making money with clickbank Here are some time tested and proven ideas that I use to set up my own eBooks. I am going to take you step by step through the process that I use to set up and sell eBooks online.
The main thing you need to remember when reading this eye opening information is that you absolutely must take some action after you have read this.
By just taking small steps it will make it so much easier to build up you ebooks business.
So let's get started…
Use your own Knowledge… What are you passionate about, what are your hobbies What do you enjoy doing, what are you knowledgeable about?
Literally there are thousands of subjects you could write about. All you need to do is to start thinking laterally.
Research Is The Key! Before you set about writing and producing your own information product you need to ask yourself Is there any market for this product? Are people searching online for it? Does the market you are promoting to look for JUST free products or are they willing to buy your product?
Who are your target customers, what are their ages, interests, hobbies, wants, desires and dislikes? What are they trying to achieve by buying your product, what needs do they want satisfying?
Here is a tentative list of things you should be thinking about:
- What is the PURPOSE of the eBook?
- What does it do?
- How does it work?
- How is it used?
- How much does it cost?
- Any Free information with it?
- Are there any Guarantees?
- What are the FEATURES of the product? All facts and specifications.
- What are the main BENEFITS?
- What's In It For Me (WIIFM)?
- What specific problem(s) does it solve?
- What need(s) does it fulfil?
- How will it make or save me money?
- Save time, work or worry?
- Make my life easier or better?
OTHER SELLING POINTS?
- What will it give me that I can't get anywhere else?
- How and why is it new, better or different than what's already available?
- What is unique or exclusive about it?
ABOUT YOUR PROSPECT
- What are his biggest goals, concerns, fears, hopes and dreams, attitudes, possible objections?
- How will he use your product to get ahead or keep from falling behind?
- For consumers, what main interests/desires/fears/hopes and dreams does it appeal to?
Demographics: Age, Gender, Employment, Economic Class, Income level, Geographics, Countries, Cities/suburbs, Psychographics: interests, culture, lifestyle, hobbies, buying history, associations they belong to. And techno graphics: customer owns PC? Technology enthusiast or pessimist; reads emails and surfs the web - how often, how many hours/week uses the web for work, pleasure or shopping.
Who (if any) are your SECONDARY PROSPECTS?
Who are your COMPETITORS? How do you compare on product, service, price, terms, features and benefits, etc?
Where are your strongest and weakest points by comparison?
Some free resources I use when doing niche or product research are: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com http://www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com/gtrends Here are some paid resources that go into much more detail when looking for keywords to help me locate a niche: |
Stuck for Ideas??? If you're still struggling for ideas, then head along to http://www.clickbank.com/, click on marketplace in the top right of the screen and start looking through the categories of ebooks.
Another great resource to help you search through Clickbank is http://www.cbengine.com/ (More about this in a future tutorial)
Let's have a look for an example together: Go to Clickbank > Market Place > Home and Family > Parenting
Can you see how many eBooks and informational products are listed here?
Let's take an existing eBook - Solving the Bullying Problem (REMEMBER that's the only eBook I could see listed at Clickbank on how to stop bullying?). If you are able to write an eBook on bullying or even cyber bullying then you should be able to make a fair few sales of the product.
As I have said before, there is no point writing an eBook that is no good. Really work hard on publishing good quality content. I'm sure if you work hard enough, you could find all the resources on Bullying or Cyber Bullying, learn all about the subject and then write your own guide on how to stop bullying.
If you don't have time to research and write it yourself and you have some cash to invest, then go along to http://www.elance.com/ and hire a ghost writer to write and package the eBook for you.
Note: The only downside to doing this is that you can't control the quality of content that the writer is going to produce and you can't be sure that the writer hasn't ripped the content out of another book. Make sure you do your research on any ghost writers, look at their portfolios and check their past work and references, remember, the more time and effort you put on identifying a good writer, the better you will get at the end.
Ok… So I have produced my eBook! What now??
You have either written your eBook yourself, paid someone else to do it for you, or even spoken with a friend who is an 'expert' on the subject, and you are going to do a Joint Venture on the eBook. You are going to market it and your friend is the writer.
The next step is to choose the title of the eBook… Let's call it 'How to Stop cyber Bullying'. Register a domain name similar to the title, e.g. howtostopcyberbullying.com and set up your hosting account. (By the way, at the time of writing this, the above domain name has not been registered, so if your quick…)
Create your Graphics
Again, there are several ways to do this. There are plenty of free resources on the net if you want to do this yourself. I personally hire someone to create my graphics. Two websites I use for my graphics are:
They are fairly expensive but are very visually appealing and turn the whole product into a highly professional looking package.
Once you have the images, you'll need to upload them to your website. If you don't have the knowledge or skills to do this, then either ask a friend, hire someone to do it, or learn it for yourself. (Drop me an email if you get really stuck and I will see what I can do).
Add one of your images to your eBook to brand it and turn it into a PDF file. (I use http://www.primopdf.com/ to turn my MS Word document into PDF file) Also, make sure you Password protect it so people can't just give it away (well at least not without the password).
Create Your Sales Copy
After your research, creating attention grabbing and persuasive sales copy is the second most important step in the process. If you want to maximise your conversions, your sales copy needs to be spot on!
There are TWO ways around this. Either, write the sales copy yourself or, if you can't, learn. Copywriting is an invaluable tool to have.
http://www.seotoday.com/browse.php/category/articles/id/343/index.php
There are plenty of courses on how to write compelling sales copy. It's all about testing your conversion rates, tweaking the copy and then testing again. It's an ongoing process.
The second option is to hire someone to do all this for you.
I would post a project on http://www.elance.com/ (I use Elance to outsource much of my work as you are able to find good quality workers for a low price. To hire a very good copywriter, you'll need to spend around $5000! Although by looking on Elance, you should be able to pick someone up for around $200.
Yes, these look like big sums of money, but when you weigh it up against the potential returns, the outlay is small. If you get it right, you could easily make $20000 by selling an eBook. Sometimes even more!
But remember, if this is your first eBook, my advice is to pay as little as possible for the whole process. Learn from the experience, earn some money, reinvest and then next time spend more on a copywriter. The other option is to learn the writing process yourself. You can save so much money by writing the eBook and sales copy yourself.
Ok, so you now have your eBook, domain name, website and fully finished product. You just need to make some SALES.
Finding Affiliates to Promote Your Ebook
What if you could enlist the help of other people and other sites who will sell your eBook for you? Enter Clickbank - The number 1 eBook directory. Clickbank is full of publishers and affiliates all looking for eBooks and new products to promote.
For those who don't know what an affiliate is:
"Affiliate marketing typically refers to an electronic commerce version of the traditional agent/referral fee sales channel concept. An e-commerce affiliate is a website which links back to an e-commerce site such as Amazon.com. However, as the e-commerce continues to evolve, e-commerce affiliates are no longer restricted to website owners. Bloggers and members of different online community forums can be affiliates as well. Many emerging affiliate programs are now accepting bloggers and individuals, not necessarily webmasters, to be affiliates. Affiliates can also be referred as publishers. Affiliate marketers don't necessarily have to be affiliate marketers specifically. Sometimes such marketers can actually be the e-commerce web site that actually sells the products and services. The advantage of this method of marketing is that it cuts out the middleman but it does require the affiliates to have a high degree of trust in the software and people behind the e-commerce web site in question." Information About Making Money On Clickbank:
Let's see how to set up your product in clickbank.
http://www.clickbank.com/sell_products.html
Note: Before you are able to sell your product through clickbank, you need to pay a one off fee of $49.95 for them to activate your digital product and to list you in their market place. It's definitely worth the investment.
How do I find Affiliates?
This will happen in several different ways.
Up until now, the way I have been doing this is manually. I go to Google and type in the keyword of the industry I want to find affiliates for. Let's take this example - Cyber Bullying. Then I go through all the websites in the search results sending them an email to ask if they would like to become JV (Joint Venture) partners.
As your eBook gets out to more and more people, other websites and webmasters will find your product and will start promoting it for you.
The benefit of using affiliates is that you only pay a commission every time someone makes a sale for you. The going affiliate rate is around 50% of the sale. The higher the commission, the bigger the incentive for the affiliate to make the sale but the lower the income is for you.
Another much easier and quicker way of finding affiliates is by getting yourself a copy of Affiliate Elite. This brand new software will help you find high quality affiliates and sites to help you promote your eBook. So if you are serious about making money selling eBooks, you should get this program.

Free eBooks vs. Paid eBooks
This is one question I have debated many times. Let's take a look at the Pro's and Con's of both.
?Free EBooks Pros
- The eBook is free to the customer.
- Capture names and email addresses for future mailings.
- Build relationships with your customers.
- Offer backend offers, i.e. send an email out after they have downloaded your eBook and offer them another eBook or product similar to your free eBook.
- Free eBooks are Viral - they spread like wildfire.
- Add your website URL at the bottom of your eBook. When it is passed on to other people they all will see your marketing message.
- Build up a list of people who are interested in your specific niche.
Cons
- Its free, so you don't earn directly from it.
- Expensive to set up, as you may have paid for the graphics and sales copy.
- Can't use affiliates to drive traffic to your sales page, so you have to do all the promotion yourself.
- People may think that because it's free, the information inside isn't very good.
?Paid EBooks Pros
- Can use affiliates to do advertising for you.
- You earn money every time you make a sale of the ebook.
- Use the money you earn from the eBook sale to reinvest into future projects or to drive even more traffic to your offer.
- Use Clickbank to deal with all sales and transactions.
Cons
- Refund rate may be high if your eBook is not very good quality.
- People may not buy because it's too expensive and they can get the information elsewhere.
How much should I sell my eBook for?
The answer to this question totally depends on the market. However, it is always recommended to do your research first. What other eBooks are available, how much do they cost, are there other products or regular books available in the shops on this subject?
Getting the pricing model right before selling your ebook is very crucial. In the Horse Racing/ Betting Exchange market it is possible to sell eBooks up to $100 each with some very good results. I have also marketed a Poker eBook but because there are so many regular books available in the bookshops, I didn't sell many of them. Both eBooks were priced at $67 but unfortunately the Poker eBook didn't sell many copies. So you need to be very careful while fixing price for selling eBooks.
Creating Hype and Buzz In The Market This seems to be one of the key factors to a successful eBook campaign. If you can create enough hype and buzz about the product before the launch, you will sell many more copies that you would if you didn't create the hype.
Many Internet Marketers send out emails about a certain product at least a week before the launch. The emails are designed to get you excited and for you to eagerly await the launch of the product. Some marketers ask you to pre-register your details on their site so you will receive an email as soon as the product is launched.

Autoresponders
It's very important to use autoresponders as this saves you a lot of time and effort in the long run. Write an email once, upload it to your autoresponder and every time a new prospect or customer enters your mailing list, they will receive the email automatically. You can set the emails to go out incrementally each day, each week, every couple of days, once a month, it's up to you.
I have whole email courses set up to go out to prospects and customers every week. I usually write the content for the emails in one or two sittings, upload them to the autoresponder and Bingo… my customers receive this information over the next 6 months. I don't need to manually email everyone on my list.
If you go to any sales page or product page you'll usually see a drop down box or pop up box offering you a free gift. This will be an autoresponder designed specifically to get your name and email address. Once you are in the list and have given your permission to receive future emails, you will be bombarded with free information and offers for certain products.
I would strongly recommend Aweber for your autoresponder.
There are still more steps to be covered in producing and marketing your eBook, but if you follow the information above and really do your research you will be able to sell a very large amount of eBooks within no time! Some clickbank affiliates are making upwards of $30,000 per month selling eBooks.
They identify a niche and then write the eBook or information product specifically to solve a problem for that niche.
Once you have finished your initial pre launch phase for your product and your ebook has been launched you'll need to focus on building up your Joint Ventures and Affiliate partners to maintain your sales.
