Years Of World of Warcraft Experience Finally Pay Off
Looks like all those hours of whackin' it to 3D avatars in Gates is finally paying off for some Stanford CS specialists. After years of Everquest and WoW, they finally find themselves qualified as -- marriage counselors?!
In a tragic/hilarious story about a woman whose husband ditched her for a SecondLife (check it out, it's creepy) virtual bimbette, half of the internet specialists consulted were linked to Stanford. Big surprise. One recent Stanford PhD student said that for over half of online gamers, the emotional highlights of most of their weeks occur in the virtual realm.
Yeah, "research." Although, to be fair, most of us did experience emotional responses from seeing Tub Girl for the first time. They just weren't pleasurable ones.
